This is a fascinating piece of vintage 1980's cross stitch  that looks like a traditional silhouette. It was rescued from a frame, carefully laundered, and now it's ready to use - perhaps for another frame - perhaps for a pillow.  It is worked only in red and black thread on very fine creamy-white linen.  The message is that there is no friend like an old friend.
The image size (the "picture") is generous  11.5" x 14.5".  The area at which the linen was folded over and nailed into a frame is 13.5" x 16.5", and the entire piece is 18" x 21".
This item is pre-owned, but it is in beautiful condition.  It has been removed from a frame and carefully laundered.  There are light rust marks where the piece was folded around a backing and nailed into a frame.  These marks could be folded under or easily covered with a mat.  There is plenty of room between the image itself and the rust marks to have a generous edge for making a pillow.
